Yoga Super Granny Full of Amazing Vitality at 84!
Most of us today are searching for that magic elixir to keep ourselves feeling great. But the answer could lie right in front of us. Lets see how this amazing granny does it. With her movie star looks and soft demeanor, this glamorous Granny will take you by surprise. Bette Calman has been teaching yoga for the last fifty years, and shows no signs of slowing down. At 84 years of age, her moves on the floor may leave most of us feeling just a bit out of shape. "Doesn't matter if your feeling tired, just lay down, do a little bit of yoga and you feel good." Bette first started practicing yoga when she was working in the hotel industry, as she found that doing headstands after long days helped ease her aching legs. "I started more or less on my own until I found a Master, Michael Volin and he started me on the path." There were no books about yoga when she started, so she learnt by word of mouth from Michael Volin, a renowned yoga teacher in the fifties. She still teaches the same way today. Her favourite postures are the shoulder and headstands, both of which she can still do with ease. Television and print embraced her in the fifties and she became a regular feature, with her rubber band like postures and never a hair out of place. [Evlleen Darcey, Yoga Student]: "Yes her classes have helped me greatly. There so dynamic. You go in there feeling tense and you come out floating." She is still teaching classes locally at her daughter's yoga school in a trendy bayside suburb in Melbourne Australia. "I haven't been to a doctor, I go to a eye doctor, but not the other doctor for 50 years. I don't get colds, I don't get headaches so I suppose I'm healthy." So with a lifestyle of little of sleep, hours of daily exercise, small amounts of plain food and loads of energy, this amazing super gran may leave most of us wondering about our own choices. |

Yoga has totally transformed my life. In seven years I went from multiple medical problems to the best physical and mental shape of my life. Now I teach transformation through yoga to students age 8 to 92. Three enthusiastic 90(+) year-olds share their love of yoga in this three-minute video. Don't miss the lass few seconds! Hot Yoga Testimonials
There are numerous benefits to hot yoga. Listen to others' experience with Hot Yoga. Warm-Up It just makes sense as you need to warm up your body before you do any vigorous exercise. At Mai Town Yoga the studio room is thermostatically heated very close to body temperature. The humidity is around 50% which allows you to breathe easier. The body can regulate its internal temperature to 98.6F through sweating and you are in a comfort zone. By sweating, your body will safely regulate its own temperature. Tune-Up
There are a number of reasons for heating the room to body temperature. Some of these are as follows: A warmed-up body can stretch, twist, bend and arch further which means that you will literally massage all your inner organs, glands, muscles and ligaments, etc. thus allowing greater mobility without causing pain. You are giving yourself a 'tune-up' because you are affecting every cubic centimetre inside your body plus the largest organ of your body, your skin, is getting a genuine cleansing due to sweating. Toning and Weight Normalization Think about when you were much younger and you climbed trees, furniture and literally turned yourself into a pretzel nearly every day. When you did that, all your internals received a major workout (likely every day). Well, hot yoga allows that to happen to you again thus giving yourself a 'tune-up' each time you take a hot yoga class. There is simply no better exercise than a complete hot yoga class. You will find that doing this exercise at least 1 - 3 times per week will achieve wonders for your mind, body and soul. Your body weight will simply normalize itself which means that your optimum weight will be achieved and toning will be accomplished depending on the depth and extent of your efforts in following the postures. Peace of Mind You have the added advantage of not having to think at all about the outside world as you are concentrating on breathing and balancing and basically following the instructor's guided session. This gives your mind a release which creates a genuine calming effect. You will notice that you come out of the class feeling 'lighter' and at peace.
